Going to the Face Off Finale!

Week 10: Living the Dream, Part 1

Face Off is down to four contestants, and this week's Spotlight Challenge was to choose two characters from the new SyFy show, Defiance, and create a hybrid.  Anthony picked the Liberata and Mutant creatures.  To get a closer look, the contestants were surprised with a trip to Toronto to visit the set of Defiance!

Anthony's hybrid was very successful, the judges loved his overall look and paint job and thus, awarding Anthony the winner of the challenge and the first spot into the season finale!  Anthony was joined by Kris and Wayne, while the show said good-bye to Eric F.

Down, but not out!

Week 9: Mummy Mayhem

McKenzie Westmore announces this weeks Spotlight Challenge in front of the well known, Egyptian Theatre.  This week the remaining five contestants are to choose an ancient Egyptian God and put an Evil Dead spin on it.

Anthony chose Anubis, the patron God of embalming.  Unfortunately, the judges were unhappy with his overall paint job and thought the head dress could have been bigger.

Back on top!

Week 8: It's Better in the Dark

In my personal opinion, this was by far my most favorite challenge of this season on Face Off!  The contestants were taken cliff side where they had to create a new species of aquatic life as they did in movies such as The Abyss and Avatar.  The twist is they would also have to utilize bioluminescence paint, which is visible under infrared light.  Anthony decided to create an amphibious warrior creature taking inspiration from the red-eyed tree frog.  Anthony received a positive response from Michael Westmore on his walk-through with each contestant.

As a whole, the group came up with some interesting concepts.  Anthony and Wayne landed in the top looks while Megan, House and Eric Z. landed in bottom looks.

For the bioluminescence challenge, Anthony was announced the winner!  His sculpt was amazing with special attention to detail, while his bioluminescent paint job was spot on!  The pictures don't do his creature justice, if you haven't seen this episode, I highly recommend you catch a re-run or download it on iTunes!

While the show said good-bye to Megan and Eric Z., it's down to the top 5 and next week will bring MUMMY MAYHEM!  Check out the sneak peek HERE!

Face Off: 2 weeks on the bottom

Week 6: Bugging Out

This week the Spotlight Challenge was to select an abstract image, which turned out to be a microscopic close up of a bug!  The contestants had to incorporate their insect color and texture on a life-size version of their selected bug.  Anthony chose the army ant, and it proved to be a difficult challenge this week.  Regardless of Anthony landing on the bottom this week, he still was voted safe by the judges.

Week 7: Howl At The Moon

This episode began with a Foundation Challenge with special guest judge, Gail Anne Hurd from The Walking Dead!  In this Foundation Challenge, the contestants were teamed up to turn a large group of background actors into zombies!  Anthony was teamed up with Megan and their quick make-up attack and collective group completion landed them on the top.  Megan was awarded immunity for this week.

For the Spotlight Challenge, the contestants were paired up to create a werewolf from a chosen planet.  Anthony was teamed up with Fox and they chose Saturn.

Watching their sketching session, you know this piece was going to be big and outside of the box!

The judges were unimpressed with their efforts this week, as their 20 piece suit (made in 20 hours) landed them on the bottom.  Kris and Wayne pulled top looks and Kris was announced the winner of this challenge.

55th Annual GRAMMY Awards

I had the wonderful experience of attending the prestigious GRAMMY Awards on Sunday, February 10th 2013!  The day was full of excitement and magic!

I attended the GRAMMYs with my Uncle (Theio in Greek) and music producer, Mike Vasilomanolakis and talented musician, Omar Akram!  Omar's fourth and most recent album, Echoes of Love was nominated for Best New Age Album!

A majority of the categories, including Best New Age Album, was held at the pre-televised ceremony at Nokia Theatre across from the Staples Center.  It was a full house with wonderful performances and entertaining presenters.  As the event unfolded, the moment we had all been waiting for finally approached, the category for Best New Age Album.

And the GRAMMY goes to...

OMAR AKRAM for ECHOES OF LOVE!!!

The pure joy and overwhelming moment took our entire group on a roller coaster ride of emotions.  Omar accepted his GRAMMY with the biggest smile and had a lovely speech.  Mike gave a moving and heartfelt speech as he was as ecstatic as Omar!  Much congratulations to Omar and Theio Mike for their tireless effort in touching the hearts of the listeners with Omar's moving and inspiring music!

As the night went on, I was able to experience the joy once again in support of Halestorm who won the GRAMMY for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance for their song, Love Bites (So Do I)!  Going up against rock and heavy metal  veterans, they were shocked and blown away at their win which was evident in their acceptance speech.  Much congratulations goes out to Halestorm for their relentless effort to climb the ladder in the rock world by creating great music, putting on kick ass rock shows and recognizing their fans who are continuously supportive.

After the pre-televised ceremony, we made our way to the Red Carpet for the GRAMMY Awards show at the Staples Center.  What a thrilling moment walking down the Red Carpet with amazing and talented artists and actors.  The GRAMMY Awards were packed with a punch, with performances by Maroon 5, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Elton John and Sting to name a few, not to mention the high energy LL Cool J brought to the show as the MC!  LL Cool J closed the show with an amazing performance that closed the night the way it began.  Another amazing night to remember!

The pre-televised ceremony is available to watch online for a limited time at http://grammy.com/live.

Here are some pictures from the evening:

"With a rebel yell, she cried more, more, more"

I recently had the opportunity to meet 80's Rock God himself, Billy Idol!  What a great guy, really nice and down to earth, what a great experience!

Anthony's candy creation, "Colonel Candy" was a sleek, clean, and refined work of art that landed him safe for this week's Spotlight Challenge.
